He sustained a severe viral and bacterial eye infection last year in his remaining eye. Dave has been blind in one eye for most of his life. The infection damaged the cornea requiring numerous treatments at the Univ. of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City to save his vision which has resulted in modest recovery. Proceeds of this event go towards helping cover required hospital visit travel expenses and out of pocket medical costs not covered by insurance or Medicare.

Jay Scribner, along with his wife Kay, are natives of Illinois, but they have made their home in Branson, Missouri since 1977. Jay is the former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Branson where he served for 28 years, enjoying the favor and fruitfulness of the Lord.
This wonderful Church experienced excellent growth, evangelistic outreach, extensive mission development, debt-free building projects, and impacted the local community and beyond with the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ, under Jay’s leadership.
Jay has an Associate’s degree from Hannibal Lagrange College in Hannibal, Missouri, a Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, a Master’s degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He also has an Honorary Doctorate from Hannibal Lagrange University.Jay has travelled extensively in 20 countries; in several countries multiple times. He has served in various capacities within the Missouri Baptist and Southern Baptist Conventions, including President of the Missouri Baptist Convention. He and his wife founded the first Christian radio station, KLFC, in the Branson community. He has led in over 200 revivals, served as an adjunct professor in college and seminary, as well as being a sought-after speaker for banquets, seminars, etc. He also served as Guest Chaplain at the United States Congress in Washington in 1997.
Kay is also an author of two women’s Bible study books. Jay and Kay have two grown sons, Paul and Mark. They and their wives are the parents of Jay and Kay’s eight grandchildren.

Welcome to the 1920’s where bathtubs were made for only one thing—to make gin! (Ok, maybe two things.) Lots of gangsters are showing up at “Cherry’s Speakeasy” to talk about the turf war going on between the Corneolis and the Buffafuccos. Just when things are about to settle down, in comes Harry Hyde (the famous Russian mobster). He sure knows how to make enemies! Deadly ones! Local constable, Doyle Lonnegan, shows up to solve the crime,
but not before things get pretty wild! You’ll meet crazy characters like Red E. Mix (the local concrete salesman), Trixie (the owner of Cherry’s), and many others before you find out who put “da finger” on Harry’s Hyde! Was it Larry, The Rug? Was it Joey, The Lips? Or Maybe, J Edna Hoover?

The Oskaloosa City Band continues its Summer Concert Series through August 7. The band has been performing Summer Concerts every year sine 1864. The band performs a variety of music each night to please all ages.
Join the Oskaloosa City Band in the Norman Rockwell setting of the bandstand in the downtown city park! Local businesses provide free popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, bottled water and more! Fundraising organizations sell pie by the slice, while ice cream, shaved ice and other treats are available for purchase as well. Park benches are available but you might want to bring your favorite lawn chair or a blanket to relax under the shade trees while listening to the soothing sounds of the City Band. We hope to see you there!!

All classes follow the national guidelines from the American Heart Association. If an American Heart certification card is requested, the cost is $35. If a certification card is not needed, the class is free.
To register, email jwalker@mahaskacountyia.gov. You must be registered five (5) days prior to the date of the class to attend.
A minimum class size is 10 people. If that number is not met, you will be notified and then have the option to attend the next scheduled class.
Payment method: cash, card, or check.

Join us for the 38th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. This year's theme is "Twinkling Christmas". You've seen the Painting with Lights in Oskaloosa, come check out the creativity of the parade entries with all the colors and lights.
The weeklong festivities will include the Young Ambassador Contest, Window Decorating, Home Decorating contests, Gospel Christmas Concert, Merry Little Downtown Christmas and more. We welcome the community to invite family, friends and visitors to make a trip to Oskaloosa.
As you visit the town, you can always get hot cocoa, apple cider or that warm Christmas cup of coffee at the local coffee shop; visit the Alley, decorated for the holiday; visit the quaint little bookstore for a Christmas read; or shop unique shops along the square for that perfect Christmas gift. Come see the lights, grab your cameras, and come celebrate Christmas in Oskaloosa.
