Gather 25

Join us for Gather 25. If you've been to IF: Gathering before, this is similar. However it is open to all men, women & children.
Jennie Allen & IF: Gathering are working to bring the global church for 25 hours of worship, we will gather for a portion of those hours. It is totally free to attend and registration is not required. Doors will open at 8am- with worship starting at 8:30- we will watch portions of the livestream happening around the world and end around 11:30. Come for all or part of it. We would love to have you join!

We will have childcare provided by CY students with a free will donation taken to support them attending camps this summer.

For the first time ever That Paint & Pottery Place is partnering with the Full Bloom Brewery to bring the fun rooster vibes to Oskaloosa in March!

Dolphin Documentary "Dolphin Reef"

Come out the Environmental Learning Center to watch the film "Dolphin Reef" in the Discovery Lab. This is a documentary documentary film (FREE for all ages) about a young bottlenose dolphin named Echo and his adventures in the coral reefs of French Polynesia. Echo learns to survive with the help of his mother Kumu and his pod. You will discover the dangers and wonders of the ocean in this film.

Feel free to bring snacks. Some refreshments will be provided.

Knee-High Naturalists "Reptiles"

Bring your children ages 5 and younger out to the Environmental Learning Center on Wednesday, March 12 from 9-10 am for the monthly Knee-High Naturalist program. This FREE program is designed to help foster learning about nature and exploring the outdoors. We ask that adults bringing children remain with them during the program.

On March 12th, the activity is titled "Reptiles". Kids will learn why some animals are reptiles and have a chance to meet a few of our ambassador snakes and turtles.

Van Harden is nationally known for his books, inventions and creative radio broadcasts. He retired from a 50 year broadcast career, 35 of which was a morning man and program director for WHO Radio, in Des Moines. Ronald Reagan spent many of his early radio years there. During his leadership, the station won 13 national Marconi Awards, the radio equivalent of the Emmy. Five of which were awarded to him personally for his morning show. However, most important to Van has been his 40 years as a bible teacher. He speaks to many groups, secular and otherwise. Van insists on teaching right out of the bible, which he calls our "owner's manual". He and his wife Becky live in his childhood home in Iowa. He has three grown children and eight grandchildren. Homeschool Science Lab "Trading Post"

The Mahaska County Conservation Board invites homeschool and online school families to the monthly Homeschool Science Lab on Wednesday, March 19th from 10:00-11:00 am at the Mahaska County Environmental Learning Center.

The topic for March will be "Trading Post". Kids will learn how people in our past used trading posts and then participate in a trading post inside the ELC.

March's Painting at Smokey Row

Every month we travel to Smokey Row on the third Thursday to bring a fun painting event to the Oskaloosa area! Please join us for March’s on the 20th. 
For the month of March we’ll be creating this beautiful woodsy wreath that has all the earthy feels of burgeoning spring. The center letter is your choice… could be a letter or a word. Completely up to you! Pair this with a yummy drink and you’ve got a perfect evening.

Each ticket is just 30$ a piece and the event starts at 6 pm. There are 2 ways to register/pay:

OWLS Program "The Prairie Tool: American Bison"

The Mahaska County Conservation invites adults of any age to the O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Livelier Souls) program on Friday, March 21 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm for a guest presentation about the American Bison.

Guest speaker, Lilly Morin, will speak about "The Prairie Tool: American Bison". She will share her wealth of knowledge of how bison have historically shaped America's prairies. She will also explain how our land today can benefit from modern grazers working the land as herds of bison once did. Lilly is a current Green Iowa AmeriCorps member serving Mahaska County Conservation.

Secondary Homeschool Art Class

This class introduces secondary homeschool students to a variety of 3-D techniques that serve as building blocks for a solid foundation in art making. As skills are acquired and improved upon, students will learn to think independently and solve problems creatively.

This annual Awakening Grace - Journey Through Grief Day Retreat is about creating a safe space for grieving families to connect and heal. This space is specifically designed for anyone who has lost a child during pregnancy or infancy. We would encourage you to join us regardless of how long ago your loss was, whether it has been 2 months, 2 years, 20 years, or somewhere in between.

Although the retreat is geared toward grieving families, we encourage you to bring as many support people with you as you would like. If you haven’t experienced a loss, but have a friend who has, we encourage you to invite them to the event and offer to attend with them. We want to invite Dads, Moms, Grandparents, Siblings (over 12), Aunts, Uncles, and Friends!

This space will allow you the time and space to share openly about your child(ren), provide you with tools and resources to help you continue on your grief journey, and equip you with an amazing community to walk alongside you on this journey. This space is designed as a place where we can take a break from our normal lives and come together to grieve and remember our heavenly babies, while also healing and learning tools to help us in our grief journey.

State Charity Event is coming up! SMP Julie Ervin and SWP Gene Kracht will be in attendance. 

IOWA Service Dogs was founded in 2019. They are located in West Des Moines, but they are dedicated to serving first responders and veterans over all of Iowa and surrounding areas. IOWA Service Dogs train dogs from the time they enter the program all the way through the matching process. During the entire training process, it costs nothing to the warrior (recipient of the dog). IOWA Service Dogs covered all costs associated with raising and training the dogs.

This class introduces secondary homeschool students to a variety of 3-D techniques that serve as building blocks for a solid foundation in art making. As skills are acquired and improved upon, students will learn to think independently and solve problems creatively.

The Tasting Bar will not be open, but Seated Tastings, also by Reservation only, will be available to enjoy before your meal. Our Seated Tastings include your choice of one of nine Tasting Flights. Flights include five wines, freshly baked bread, Frisian Farms Young Gouda, and Tassel Ridge® Dipping Oil. $15/$20 per flight.
