Join us at the Mahaska County Conservation Board's "Coffee Club at the ELC" on Friday, April 1st from 9:00-10:00 am. Homemade refreshments will be served! While at the Coffee Club, we have a great time visiting and learning about fascinating things about nature and MCCB. We have two new animals at the ELC and you will be able to meet them on this day. They are two box turtles that survived the recent EF3 tornado by Chariton, IA. Come and learn about their story. Bring a coffee cup and friend! Donations will be appreciated to help purchase supplies for future Coffee Club gatherings. We meet in the Environmental Learning Center - feel free to look around at the exhibits after having coffee. There are many great displays to see in the ELC! The Environmental Learning Center is located at 2342 Hwy. 92 East, Oskaloosa. If you have questions, contact MCCB at (641)673-9327 Ext. 2 or email decook@mahaskacountyia.gov.

From the depths of his Iowa roots, multi-award-winning songwriter J. Jeffrey Messerole writes songs that vary as greatly as the wildflowers in the native tall grass. Messerole does frequently write about that flora, as well as the fauna of the region. Not to mention all of its wildlife. Not one to shy away from subject matter, the songs can frequently meander across the lines between love and loss, success and failure, or life and death. Messerole masterfully blends the sounds of his guitar with thoughtful lyrics, an engaging stage presence, and often rack harmonica to tell gritty American tales that are bound to evoke emotion from all of his listeners.
