The Oskaloosa City Band begins its Summer Concert Series the first Thursday of June and generally ends on the first Thursday in August. The band has been performing Summer Concerts every year since 1864. The band performs a variety of music each night to please all ages.

Join the Oskaloosa City Band in the Norman Rockwell setting of the bandstand in the downtown city park! Local businesses provide free popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, bottled water and more! Fundraising organizations sell pie by the slice, while ice cream, shaved ice and other treats are available for purchase as well. Park benches are available but you might want to bring your favorite lawn chair or a blanket to relax under the shade trees while listening to the soothing sounds of the City Band. We hope to see you there!!

Mahaska County Master Gardeners announce a Tomato Fest will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 6 PM. Their first Tomato Fest was celebrated in 2005 when Stan & Susan Gilland, then Master Gardener Interns from Monroe County introduced many to heirloom varieties of tomatoes and we discussed tomato growing topics. 

There is no fee to attend the event.

It will be held at Lacey gardens along the bike trail. If there is inclement weather it will be held at the Mahaska County Extension Office Auditorium, (212 North I Street) Oskaloosa.
